AVA — Scratch Brewing Co. is marking five years in business with a party at the brewery March 3 and 4.

The party will feature 20 unique beers, work from local artists, a farmed and foraged menu by a North Carolina chef and coffee from Chicago's Dark Matter Coffee.

Since it opened in 2013, Scratch Brewing has made a name for itself in Southern Illinois and beyond for its unique beers made with local ingredients — many of them foraged from the Scratch property — partnerships with local farmers, baked goods made in its hand-built brick oven, stunning decor by local artist Brett Douglas Hunter and events highlighting the works of local artisans, including handmade beer steins and handmade event posters.

This year's anniversary event runs from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 3 and Sunday, March 4. Tickets are for sale at the brewery all month, and online at scratchbeer.com/tickets. The event is expected to sell out.

Tickets are $30 and include a glass, eight tasting tickets and unlimited soda, chai tea and hot- and cold-brewed coffee from Dark Matter. On the beer list for the party are greatest hits from the last five years, barrel-aged beers that use foraged ingredients and a one-time-only anniversary brew. Designated driver tickets are $10. Food by chef Obie Ferguson will be available for purchase.
