St. Nicholas Brewing Co. is joining in on the eclipse mania in Southern Illinois with a new beer, Black Sun, which is being officially released during an event at the brewery on Tuesday, March 28.

Much of Southern Illinois will be in the path of totality of the solar eclipse that will cross the U.S.A. on Aug. 21.

St. Nicholas' commemorative beer is a dark black malt made with citra hops. At the Tuesday event, the beer will be available to taste and purchase for the first time. Fred Isberner, the vice president of the Astronomical Association of Southern Illinois, will give a presentation about what exactly will happen during the eclipse on Aug. 21.
