Du Quoin-based brewery St. Nicholas Brewing Co. is planning to expand.
According to an email statement Monday, the company is "completing the purchase of the "Landmark" building near the Mississippi River in Chester to serve as a taproom and restaurant.
The ground floor of that building dates back to 1838, the statement said, and was a commercial building, apartments, and later a restaurant and bar. It has been closed for eight years.

The statement said the gastropub will open sometime in 2018. The new location will also offer private event spaces.
The brewery first opened in 2014 in Du Quoin, in the circa 1879 building that once housed the St. Nicholas Hotel.
