Harrah's is holding a blow-out bash on Saturday, July 1, including food, live music, fireworks and a kid's zone.
It's the Hometown Celebration, featuring live music by Throwing Copper, food and drinks for purchase and a kid's zone including obstacle courses and bounce houses. Music starts at 7:30 p.m., and the kid's zone is open from 6 to 9 p.m.
Fireworks will light the sky at 9:15 p.m.
There is a $5 entry fee for anyone older than 2; proceeds benefit the Harrah’s Metropolis School Supply Giveaway being held at 5 p.m. Friday, July 28 at the Metropolis Community Center.
The celebration will be in the Harrah’s Metropolis Casino parking lot between Ferry and Metropolis streets. The gate opens at 6 p.m. Cash is required for all purchases.
Another display of fireworks is planned for dusk on Tuesday, July 4 on the Metropolis riverfront; it is hosted by the Farmer family in memory of the late Steven Farmer. Music will be provided by Michelle Bradley.
