How will you ring in the new year? There’s no shortage of parties, concerts and events this Sunday night in Southern Illinois. Check out this year’s New Year’s Eve roundup:


The Grotto, 201 E. Main St., welcomes surf-rock group The Squadfathers for a New Year’s Eve bash starting at 10 p.m. Admission is $5 and includes a champagne toast at midnight. 618-549-6400.

Hangar 9, 511 S. Illinois Ave., hosts a New Year’s Eve party featuring Till the Morning Comes, a Grateful Dead cover band. Music starts at 8 p.m. $5 cover; $3 with student of military ID. For more information, call 618-549-0511.

Levels, 760 E. Grand Ave., is open until 3 a.m. Sunday night for a New Year’s Eve party catered by Saluki Bar N’ Grill. $10 cover includes appetizers, champagne toast and party favors. Must be 19 to enter. Tickets are available at or at the door. Call 618-529-5494 for more information.

Katy-Lynn Winery, 1801 Sneed Rd., will throw a pre-party New Year’s Eve costume ball from 12:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Attendees should come dressed to impress or dressed for laughs. Acoustic group The Radio Days will play from 3 to 6 p.m. Call 618-713-5239 for details.

PK’s, 308 S. Illinois Ave., hosts its annual New Year’s Eve party. Tawl Paul and Slappin’ Henry Blue will provide live music starting at 10 p.m. The bar will be open until 3 a.m. 618-529-1124.


Walker’s Bluff, 326 Vermont Rd., celebrates the new year in the Tasting Room with “A Night in Paris Masquerade Ball” from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday. There will be a selfie booth, a snack station and a fireworks show. A DJ will provide entertainment. Tickets are $35 per person or $60 per couple. Bar packages are available for an extra $20 and include unlimited domestic beer and Walker's Bluff wine. Tickets are available at

Walker’s Bluff will also host a New Year's Eve buffet at Legends from 4 to 9 p.m. Dinner is $60 per person. Guests who attend the buffet can purchase tickets to the Masquerade Ball at a discounted rate. To make a reservation for the buffet, call 618-956-9900 ext. 400.


The Frenchman’s Widow, 201 N. 16th St., hosts a New Year’s Eve party starting at 7 p.m. with performances by Jensen Waugh and DJ Party Express. Dinner and drink packages are $75 each; dinner only is $35 and drinks only is $55. Champagne and appetizers are included with all packages. Dinner includes a choice of starter, entrée and dessert. The Rt. 37 Dance Barn, 11580 Rt. 37, hosts a New Year’s Eve dance party starting at 7 p.m. Admission is $20. Linda Kay and The Rusty Gate Band will provide music. Dinner will be served between 7 and 8 p.m. Call 618-384-7322 for more information.

Du Quoin

St. Nicholas Brewing Co., 12 S. Oak St., will ring in 2018 with a party that includes a midnight countdown and champagne toast. The Rattle & Dags duo will provide entertainment from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. The brewery’s full menu will be available, along with five special entrées and specialty cocktails. No cover. Route 51 Brewing Co. and Event Center, 18967 N. U.S. 51, hosts a party from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Chris Slone will provide music in the tasting room. A late-night menu will be available. For more information, call 618-568-2739.
