This year brings a couple occurrences of the unlucky Friday the 13th.
To commemorate the superstitious day, The Varsity Center is again screening the classic slasher flick "Friday the 13th."
The movie tells the story of the reopening of the cursed Camp Crystal Lake after its decades-long hiatus. As teenage counselors ready the sleep-away camp, an unknown murderer stalks them one by one.
The film, released in 1980, has become a horror classic and launched a several-movie franchise despite negative reviews when it first hit theaters.
The movie also screened at The Varsity on Friday, April 13, and nearly sold out. Tickets are on sale now for the July screening.
Tickets are $5 and may be purchased ahead of time at thevarsitycenter.org or at the venue on the night of the show. The show is at 7 p.m.; doors to The Varsity open at 6:30 and snacks and drinks will be for sale.
The movie is rated R for adult situations and language, sex and graphic violence.
The Varsity is at 418 S. Illinois Ave.
