A well-known chamber music ensemble is making a stop in Carbondale this weekend.

The Jupiter String Quartet will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, at the Carbondale Unitarian Fellowship, at 105 N. Parrish Lane. The Carbondale performance is part of the quartet's series "Beethoven's Orbit," which celebrates the composer's 250th birthday.

Tickets are $15 at the door, and $5 for students.

The program will feature Janacek's "Quartet No. 1" and Beethoven's "Quartet in F Major, Op. 18, No. 1" and "Quartet in E-flat Major, Op. 127." The performance is the first show in the 2019-2020 season of the Southern Illinois Chamber Music Society.

The Jupiter String Quartet has performed in venues including New York City's Carnegie Hall and Washington, D.C.'s Kennedy Center.
