Du Quoin High School has recognized Alaina Caldwell, Maysa Campbell, Brittany Clark, Carlie Daffron, Abigail Vancil and Michelle VanZandt for academic excellence.
Caldwell, 18, is an Illinois State Scholar, a member of National Honor Society and a Daughters of the American Revolution Citizenship Award recipient. She is a member of National Honor Society, Spanish club, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, Mathletes, engineering club, student council, basketball, softball, volleyball, pep club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes and a class officer.
The daughter of Larry and Jennifer Caldwell of Du Quoin, she plans to study at St. Louis College of Pharmacy.
Campbell, 17, is National Honor Society president; recipient of Good Citizenship Award; received honorable mention for National Spanish Exam, first place for hospitality management Future Business Leaders of America at state), and second place in Management Decision Making FBLA at State. She is a member of FCCLA, Mathletes, engineering club and Spanish Club vice president.
The daughter of Eric and Vanessa Campbell of Du Quoin, she plans to major in elementary education at Indiana State University.
Clark, 18, is an Illinois State Scholar; received Gold on National Spanish Exam, second in math at Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering. She is a member of National Honor Society, FBLA, Spanish club, engineering club, jazz, marching and concert bands and Scholar Bowl.
The daughter of Doug Clark and Kelly Tripp of Du Quoin, she plans to study bio-medical engineering.
Daffron, 17, is a member of National Honor Society, Daughters of American Revolution winner and University of Notre Dame Summer scholar, and received bronze for National Spanish Exam, Girl Scout Gold Award, local Wendy's Heisman Award, golf-most improved and MVP. She is a member of FBLA, FCCLA, Spanish club, Mathletes, golf, track, Du Quoin Tourism Board, Girls Scouts, FCA, student council, Perry CEO Program and Perry County youth juror.
The daughter of Crystal Winters and Brad Daffron of Du Quoin, she plans to major in law enforcement and Spanish at Southeast Missouri State University.
Vancil, 17, is an Illinois State Scholar, received the Arion Award for Musical Excellence and is an FFA section winner in poultry production. She is a member of National Honor Society, first chair trombonist in band, Spanish club and FFA reporter.
The daughter of Joey and Stacey Vancil of Du Quoin, she plans to study at John A. Logan College.
VanZandt, 18, is an Illinois State Scholar. She is a member of National Honor Society, FBLA, speech team, band, drama/theatre, Scholar Bowl, French club, FCCLA and Spanish club.
The daughter of Cliff and Cinnamon VanZandt of Du Quoin, she plans to study nursing at Southeast Missouri State University.
Commencement will be at 6 p.m. May 14 at Du Quoin State Fairgrounds grandstand. Valedictorian is Brittany Clark.
