Elverado High School has recognized Michelle Abbadusky of Dowell, Nicholle Bedar of Elkville, Alysa Cook of Elkville, Matthew Jones of Vergennes, Roger Langguth III of De Soto, and Alexis Sillaway of De Soto, for academic honors.

Abbadusky, 17, was enrolled in John A. Logan classes, has a 4.93 grade point average, ranked second of 33; and achieved high honors all four years. She placed fifth in Accounting John A. Logan Business competition; made Basketball Black Diamond All conference, Volleyball Black Diamond All conference and South Egyptian all conference teams; and received U.S. Army Reserve Award. She is Beta Club and Future Career and Community Leaders of America president and senior class vice president.

The granddaughter of Don Abbadusky, she plans to study sociology at John A. Logan College.

Bedar, 17, achieved high honors and maintained a high GPA while involved with sports and many community outreach programs. She is a member of Beta Club, student council, FCCLA and basketball.

The daughter of Lance and Julia Bedar, she plans to study at John A. Logan College.

Cook, 18, achieved high honors and received Distinguished Writing Award. She is a member of Beta Club, Alpha and drama club.

The daughter of Kevin Cook and Sandra Cook, she plans to major in animal science and pre-veterinary at SIU.

Jones, 18, achieved high honors four years and has a 4.8 GPA. He is Beta Club vice president, Future Farmers of America treasurer and a member of student council and bass fishing. He made Football Black Diamond All conference Offensive Selection, in basketball four all tournament trophies and made Black Diamond All conference.

The son of James and Wendy Jones he plans to study medicine and dentistry beginning at John A. Logan College.

Langguth III, 18, achieved high honors all four years. He played basketball four years and football two years.

He is the son of Roger Langguth Jr. and Dalia Gamboa.

Sillaway, 18, achieves high honors while participating in any blood drive she can and maintains a job. She received Award of Excellence from the Academy of Future Leaders and Medical Physicians. She is a member of Torch and Laurel Program and Beta Club.

The daughter of Jennifer and Robert Sillaway she plans to major in journalism at University of Indianapolis.

Commencement will be at 7 p.m. May 15 in Elverado High School Gymnasium. Baccalaureate will be at 7 p.m. May 10 in Elkville Christian Church.
