2016 Honors: Murphysboro High School

Murphysboro High School has recognized Heather Cross, Allison Jarrett, Caylee Jarrett, Emily Novara, Clay Rendleman and Colin Wisinski for academic excellence.

Cross, 17, is an Illinois State Scholar. She is a member of National Honor Society, Key Club, Beta Club and Multi-Cultural Club.

The daughter of Mary Cross of Murphysboro and James Cross of Ava, she plans to study nursing at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.

Allison Jarrett, 17, is an Illinois State Scholar. She is a member of National Honor Society, Key Club and art club.

The daughter of Tina and Jason Jarrett of Murphysboro, she plans to major in elementary education at Murray State University.

Caylee Jarrett, 18, is an Illinois State Scholar. She is a member of National Honor Society and Beta Club.

The daughter of Corey and Tina Jarrett of Murphysboro, she plans to study pre-medicine at Murray State University.

Novara, 18, is an Illinois State Scholar. She is a member of National Honor Society, Key Club, Beta Club, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

The daughter of Cynthia and Len Novara of Murphysboro, she plans to major in special education at Vanderbilt University.

Rendleman, 18, is an Illinois State Scholar and placed first in Envirothon District Competition in 2014, 2015 and 2016. He is a member of National Honor Society and Envirothon.

The son of Laurie Rendleman of Vergennes and Kevin Rendleman of Murphysboro, he plans to study biological sciences at Southern Illinois University.

Wisinski, 18, is an Illinois State Scholar; placed second at Regional and third at Sectional WYSE competitions; placed first at regional Envirothon in 2014, 2015 and 2016; placed third at Masonic Scholar Bowl 2016; and received Key Club 100 plus Hour District Award for more than 100 service hours. He is National Honor Society president, Beta Club vice president and a member of Key Club, Scholar Bowl, WYSE Team and Envirothon.

The son of Christine Ward of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Craig Wisinski of Carbondale, he plans to major in electrical engineering at SIU.

Commencement will be at 8 p.m. May 14 in Memorial Gymnasium. Baccalaureate will be at 2 p.m. May 14 in the high school auditorium.
