Larry and Linda Field of Herrin celebrated their Golden 50th Wedding Anniversary on Jan. 21, 2017.
After graduating from Hiawatha High School together in Kirkland, Illinois, they eloped to Michigan at the young age of 18, and were married Jan. 21, 1967, at the courthouse.
Mr. and Mrs. Field are the children of the late Clark and Jennie Field, and Dorothy Bertels, who also lived in Herrin their later years.
Mr. Field served in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army National Guard, is a graduate of Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, and retired from the State of Illinois after 27 years with IDES.
Mrs. Field was a military wife, bookkeeper/program administrator by trade, working for both Smolers Brothers and Southwest Forestries of Herrin, before retiring after 17 years with Crosswalk of West Frankfort.
They have two children, Yavonne Field-Camarato and her husband, Andrew, of Herrin; and Larry Field Jr. "Rusty" and his wife, Elizabeth, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
They have twin grandsons, Quinton Bagwell and his wife, Sarah; and Zach Bagwell and his wife, Hannah, who both remain nearby.
Mr. and Mrs. Field celebrated their Golden Anniversary with family and friends at a surprise party thrown in their honor.
