CARBONDALE -- Three wines produced by Kite Hill Vineyards have placed in the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, one of the country's largest judged wine events.
The winery's Chambourcin took home a Gold medal; the Viognier and the Chardonel were awarded Silver medals.
"As one of the smaller wineries in Southern Illinois, it is often difficult to get recognized as a quality producer," said Kite Hill owners Jim and Barbara Bush in a press release. "This award does just that. We are proud of Scott Albert, our winemaker, and anticipate additional awards in the future."
The award-winners will be released by Kite Hill on Feb. 21.
Kite Hill is about eight miles south of Murphysboro off Illinois 127 on Grammer Road. The Tasting Room is the third driveway on the left. For information on the wines go to www.kitehillvineyards.com or call 618-684-5072.
