On the morning of Wednesday, September 12, supporters gathered at Chester Public Library for the opening of "Crossroads: Change in Rural America" exhibit. It is part of a national series, Museum on Main Street exhibition, from the Smithsonian Institution and Illinois Humanities. Library Director Tammy Grah introduced key members of the library board and Crossroads committee. The grand opening ceremony also featured a brief introduction by co-curator of the “Crossroads” exhibit and Randolph County native Dr. Debra Reid.
“Crossroads: Change in Rural America offers small towns a chance to look at their own paths to highlight the changes that affected their fortunes over the past century,” the Smithsonian’s website says. Co-curator Debra Reid said that the exhibit is a unique moment of reflection for those in and out of rural communities, especially in Illinois.
