All eyes were on the sky in Southern Illinois on Monday, Aug. 21, for the total solar eclipse. Carbondale was humming with eclipse-goers from all parts of the world converging for the event. With the epicenter in Makanda being only minutes from downtown Carbondale, the downtown Strip offered lots of places to view the once-in-a-lifetime event. Unfortunately, minutes before the big show, a cloud covered most of the view. Here’s hoping for better luck in 2024.
