The Alzheimer's Association's Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, this inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to reclaim the future for millions. Locally it was held on Sept. 23 at SIU campus in Carbondale and again on Oct. 7 at the VA Medical Center in Marion. Participants joined in a 3.2 mile walk around the medical campus. Sponsors also had goodies available to the walkers. Roni LeForge of WSIL-TV3 was the emcee for the event and kicked off the walk with a ceremony.
