Updated at 6:05 p.m.  The name of the man found in Johnson County was identified as James Test said Johnson County Coroner David Rockwell.  He was 79 years old.  

VIENNA — Johnson County officials are investigating the death of an elderly man found in a well Thursday.

Johnson County Coroner David Rockwell said the man was found about 1:20 p.m. in the well, which is near the man’s rural Vienna home.

Rockwell there is no indication of foul play, and an autopsy is pending.

The coroner’s office, with the aid of the sheriff’s department and state police, is conducting a death investigation.

Authorities checked on the man after he failed to check in as he usually does.

The man’s name identity was not made public pending notification of family.
