The Chamber Choir of St. John’s University and the College of St. Benedict will appear in concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Carbondale, according to a news release from the church.
The concert is part of the choir’s 2017-18 concert season, when the 40-member choir will perform in select cities in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa. The program features a wide variety of sacred and secular music from around the world, ranging for polyphony of the Renaissance to masterworks of the 21st Century.
Under the direction of Dr. Axel Theimer, a native of Austria and a former member of the Vienna Boys' Choir, who has been on the music faculty at Saint John’s University and the College of Saint Benedict since 1969.
