Illinois Department of Transportation road work beginning March 19 in Williamson County will constrict traffic through summer on Route 37.

According to a news release from IDOT, traffic signals will be installed to reduce traffic to one lane in either direction on Route 37 about a mile south of Marion. The release said this is being done for a staged box culvert replacement.

Lane width will be reduced to 10’6” according to the release.

Motorists are reminded to reduce speed, be alert and use “extreme caution” when traveling through this area.

According to the release, the work is expected to end, weather permitting, in September.
