Two people involved in a motorcycle crash Sunday have been airlifted to St. Louis hospitals with serious injuries, according to a news release from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.

At about 6:30 p.m., deputies responded a single motorcycle crash at the intersection of Jenkins and McLaughlin roads. There, the release states, deputies discovered that a motorcycle had been traveling northbound on McLaughlin Road at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate the turn at Jenkins Road, striking a nearby structure.

The release says the riders of the motorcycle were identified as Clyde Dobyns, 47, and Scott Dobyns, 45, both of Murphysboro. Both were flown to hospitals for serious injuries.

The sheriff's office said in the release that it is undetermined who was driving the motorcycle, and as soon as a driver can be determined, charges will be filed.
