A rural Jefferson County man suffered major injuries in a one-car crash Tuesday.

Terry Griffin, 33, Texico, was driving eastbound on Illinois 154 at 8:45 p.m. when he failed to stop at the road’s “T” intersection with Illinois 37, Franklin County Sheriff Don Jones said.

Witnesses said the car never slowed at the intersection, went airborne, struck a ditch and ended up about 150 feet from the highway.

Griffin was ejected from the vehicle and suffered major injuries. He was airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind. He will be cited for driving revoked, illegal transportation of alcohol and DUI, Jones said.
