EAST CAPE GIRARDEAU — Cairo man is dead after a Sunday shooting in East Cape Girardeau on the Bill Emmerson bridge along the Missouri-Illinois border.

A news release from Illinois State Police District 22 says that a preliminary investigation indicates two vehicles were travelling on the bridge when shots were fired — it was unclear if shots were fired from both vehicles or just one.

After the shooting, one vehicle made a U-turn and was later stopped by Cape Girardeau, Missouri, police. According to the report, police then discovered a passenger in the vehicle, Dalvin R. Taylor, 26, of Cairo, had been fatally shot.

The other vehicle involved in the incident has not yet been located and anyone with information about this case is encouraged to contact the Illinois State Police at 618-845-3740. Police did not provide information about the vehicle suspected to be involved in the shooting.
