The Tuesday news release said a jury found Dennis A. Higgins Jr., 32, guilty of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. The trial took four days.

According to the release, Higgins was one of two men who engaged in a shootout at The Fields after a verbal argument in the street. The release said the incident was captured on high-resolution surveillance video. Higgins will remain in custody until his sentencing date.

Because of his prior criminal record, Higgins’ minimum sentencing range is increased. For the aggravated use of a weapon charge, he could face between six and seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, and for the possession of a weapon by a felon charge, he could face between seven and 14 years.
