CARBONDALE — Carbondale police on Thursday identified the man who was fatally shot at an apartment complex the day prior as 25-year-old Cordell Johnson, of Cairo, and announced the arrest of two others related to the incident.

Alecze Cummings, 23, of Carbondale, was charged with cannabis conspiracy and obstructing justice, and Cameron Robinson, 26, of Cairo, was charged with cannabis conspiracy and aggravated fleeing to elude.

Police said in a news release that an investigation of the incident determined that a dispute among acquaintances resulted in an altercation that led to the gunfire. Officers responded at 12:21 a.m. on Wednesday to an apartment complex in the 2200 block of North Illinois Avenue after receiving a report of shots fired, and an individual who was injured.

When officers arrived, they found Johnson unresponsive and with multiple gunshot wounds, police said.
