Carbondale Police arrested a Centralia man Wednesday after he was caught allegedly burglarizing a home.

According to a Friday news release from the Carbondale Police Department, officers arrested 20-year-old William Farnam after the resident of a home on South Maple Street allegedly caught him breaking into the house.

The news release said the call came in at about 9 p.m. Wednesday and officers arrived to find that the resident had detained the suspect — the release said the resident allegedly heard Farnam in the house before detaining him. Deputy Chief Stan Reno told The Southern on Friday that further details on how the resident detained Farnam could not be released because the case was pending.
