An Illinois State Police trooper was injured Wednesday in a crash on Illinois 148 in Williamson County.

According to a news release from ISP, a 34-year-old trooper was treated at Heartland Regional Medical Center for injuries that were not life-threatening, and has since been released.

The crash happened just after 5 p.m. Wednesday on 148 north of Gunners Lane. The trooper, who ISP is not identifying, was driving south in a marked squad car, and stopped for traffic. Paducah woman Jacqueline Story was driving behind the squad car. According to the ISP news release, she had looked down to change the radio, and did not see that traffic ahead of her had stopped. She was unable to stop in time and rear-ended the squad car.

Story is charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
