After violating the conditions of his probation, a Jackson County man has been sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections.

A news release from Jackson County State’s Attorney Mike Carr’s office says Daniel A. Brooks, 27, was sentenced to three years in state prison followed by one year of mandatory supervised release. This was the result of a 2016 charge, which alleged Brooks beat a man with a pistol.

According to the release, Brooks pleaded guilty to aggravated battery on Aug. 28, 2017 and was sentenced to probation. However, an order to revoke probation was issued and on Monday, Brooks admitted to violating the terms of his probation, specifically by not complying with the domestic violence counseling condition.
