Police said that further investigation into the shooting found that Derek Deon Brownlee Jr., a 24-year-old from Chicago, was in possession of between 100 and 500 grams of cannabis "as part of this incident." Police did not say how the shooting could be related to the drug possession.

Police have an arrest warrant for Brownlee, who is at-large, on charges of unlawful possession with intent to deliver cannabis and unlawful possession of cannabis.

Police said the investigation is active and ongoing, and asked anyone with information about the shooting or Brownlee's whereabouts to call the police department at 618-457-3200 or Crime Stoppers at 618-549-2677.
