A man who was wanted by police in connection to an Oct. 20 shooting in Carbondale was arrested Tuesday in Evansville, Indiana, according to a Wednesday news release from the Carbondale Police Department.

Police were searching for Antonio D. Watson, 38, after he allegedly shot another man during an altercation in the 600 block of West Main Street, according to earlier reporting by The Southern. The victim was treated at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for injuries that were not life-threatening.

The police said previously that Watson had allegedly shot the man, who was his acquaintance, after an altercation that also involved two other male suspects.

Police seek suspect in Carbondale shooting

Police said Watson was arrested at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in Evansville, Indiana, and is awaiting extradition to Jackson County to face a charge of unlawful use of weapons by a felon. The U.S. Marshal Service and Evansville, Indiana, Police Department assisted in the investigation.
