A 31-year-old Marion man died early Sunday after he was shot in the parking lot of the Red Zone Bar.
According to a Monday news release from Williamson County Coroner Junior Burke, Cedrick L. Marshall died of a gunshot wound.
The shooting was reported to police shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday, around the time the bar typically closes. Burke said Marshall was taken to Herrin Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Demetrius D. Crittendon, 43, of Marion, was charged Monday with three counts of first-degree murder in Marshall's death. According to a news release from Williamson County State's Attorney Brandon Zanotti, Crittendon allegedly shot Marshall in the chest.
Zanotti said Crittendon was arrested on the scene immediately following the shooting. He's in custody of the Williamson County Jail awaiting his first court appearance and the setting of bond.
Burke said an autopsy will be conducted Tuesday afternoon.
The Williamson County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate.
