A Murphysboro man was sentenced Tuesday for possessing a weapon as a felon, Jackson County State’s Attorney Michael Carr announced Thursday.
Scott Evans, 34, received two years in prison for the charge of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, a Class 3 felony.
On June, 9, officers with the Muprhysboro Police Department and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office were searching for Evans related to other pending charges when they found him at a residence on Julia Lane in Murphysboro.
When they arrived, officers watched Evans flee from the residence, and they gave chase. He was eventually caught and arrested. During the arrest, he would found to be in possession of metal knuckles.
