Eric E. Deutsch, 72, of Murphysboro, was sentenced to four and a half years in an state prison for possessing child pornography.
Deutsch came to the attention of law enforcement when the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received notice from Yahoo of a user sharing child pornography on its platform, according to a news release from Jackson County State’s Attorney Mike Carr.
The ensuing investigation let police to an IP address corresponding to Deutsch’s home in Murphysboro.
After attaining a search warrant, police searched Deutsch’s residence on Nov. 16, 2017, and found images and videos of child pornography on multiple computers and technological devices in his possession, Carr said.
Officers also found between 20 and 50 cannabis plants, plus growing equipment at his house, in the raid, the Murphysboro Police Department indicated.
Deutsch pleaded guilty to one count of child pornography, a class 2 felony, in February. Following his sentence, Deutsch must serve at least three additional years on parole, and register as a sex offender, the news release indicated.
