Union County State's Attorney Tyler Edmonds has been appointed to serve as an associate judge in Illinois' First Judicial Circuit.
According to a news release from the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts, Edmonds' appointment was announced Monday.
Edmonds, a Democrat, has been the county's top prosecutor since he was elected in 2008. He ran for an at-large judge position in the First Circuit this past year, but was defeated by Republican Amanda Byassee Gott of Marion.
