A West Frankfort man was arrested on outstanding warrants after he rear-ended a school bus Thursday morning near Royalton.

According to a news release from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded at about 7:25 a.m. to Illinois 149 west of Royalton, where a crash between a school bus and pick-up truck had been reported.

The release states Eric Rich, 47, failed to stop and struck the rear of the bus while it was stopped to pick up children.

One child reported a minor injury, and was treated at the scene. Rich was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was treated and released, the release states.

After he was released from the hospital, Rich was arrested on two outstanding warrants. He was also charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, driving while license suspended and driving without insurance.

Franklin County sheriff and state's attorney continue to investigate.
