West Frankfort man arrested in connection with death of woman who was found dead in Williamson County

WEST FRANKFORT — A West Frankfort man has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found Monday in rural Williamson County.

West Frankfort Police Chief John Prudent told The Southern that on Sunday, the West Frankfort and Johnston City police departments, along with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, began an investigation into the disappearance of Kendra M. Ardery, 29.

Prudent said during the investigation, Thomas McCoy was developed as a suspect and that during an interview, McCoy disclosed the location of her body and “led investigators to Angelville Road.” Prudent said McCoy said during the interview that he and Ardery had an “on-again, off-again” relationship.

Prudent also noted that leading to the body is not the same as an admission of guilt.

“He just led us to the body,” Prudent said.

A news release sent Monday by Williamson County Coroner Michael “Junior” Burke said Ardery was pronounced dead Monday after her body was found on Angelville road just south of Meadowlark Road in rural Williamson County.

Prudent said McCoy was being transported to the Franklin County Jail on Monday and was arrested on probable cause for the charges of first-degree murder, concealment of a homicidal death and abuse of a corpse.

Franklin County State’s Attorney Evan Owens declined to go into specifics, saying only that there was an ongoing death investigation. There are no hearings scheduled for McCoy at this time.
