A 64-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday after she led Jackson County Sheriff's deputies on a low-speed chase that ended when she crashed into a trailer south of Murphysboro.
According to a Thursday news release from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the area of Old Highway 13 east of Murphysboro at about 9:48 p.m. after a report of someone driving recklessly. Deputies followed the vehicle, driven by Mary T. Patterson, as it turned south onto Illinois 127.
Patterson continued driving slowly on 127, then turned onto Springdale Road. Deputies attempted a traffic stop, but she continued "at a slow rate of speed," according to the release. She ran her car off the road and hit a mailbox, then swerved back onto Springdale. Then, she ran her car off the road again and continued into a field, then into the Murphysboro Township parking lot, and came to a stop after she crashed into a trailer.
