Three people had been sent to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for treatment for gunshot wounds, police learned. Two of the people had wounds that were life-threatening, Kemp said. Police on Monday said both of those people are expected to be released from the hospital following medical treatment. The third person who was injured has already been released from the hospital; that person's injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

Police said the investigation indicates there was a dispute among acquaintances that led to the shooting.

Police said the investigation is active and ongoing, and asked anyone with information about the incident to call Carbondale Police Department at 618-457-3200 or Crime Stoppers at 618-549-2677.
