Anna-Jonesboro Community High School is honoring Ashley Detering, Julia Ellis, Brayden Fitzgerald-Deener, Jackson Laster, Bryce Massey and Megan Tehand’on.

Detering, 17, is an Illinois State Scholar, Outstanding Senior, Scholar Athlete, on the high honor roll, Most Coachable in Cheerleading and placed first at Southern Area FBLA Conference. She is a member of student council and blood drive coordinator two years, National Honor Society and served as society project coordinator, FCA (leader two years), Spanish Club and served as photographer, Beta Club, FBLA, Mu Alpha Theta, math team, WYSE team, FCA and junior class officer.

The daughter of Brett and Amber Detering of Anna, she plans to study speech pathology at Murray State University.

Ellis, 18, is a Scholar Athlete and Anna Rotary Club Student of the Quarter, received the DAR Good Citizen Award, Basketball Leadership Award and 4-H Experience Award Silver Division, and is on the honor roll. She is a member and officer of FFA, National Honor Society and MCML 4-H Club, is senior class treasure, was freshman class president, and is a member of student council and Beta Club.

The daughter of Keith and Melissa Ellis of Jonesboro, she plans to major in Biology at MacMurray College.

Fitzgerald-Deener, 18, is all conference in volleyball, on the all-conference tournament team in volleyball and the Superman Slam all-tournament team, and received a full-ride volleyball scholarship to Rend Lake College. She was Anna Rotary Club Student of the Quarter, a student athlete, on the honor roll and was named outstanding senior. She is a member of student council, Beta Club and National Honor Society.

The daughter of Amy Fitzgerald-Wilson and Brian Wilson of Jonesboro, she will attend Rend Lake College.

Laster, 18, is a Journey 12 Student, Soccer Team Captain, and Southern Illinois All-Star in Soccer. He is a CEO participant and four-year FCA Leader, a member of baseball team and Beta Club, class vice president and Spanish Club officer.

The son of Mark and Andi Laster of Anna, he will study in marketing at Saint Louis University.

Massey, 18, is an Illinois State Scholar, Outstanding Senior, and placed first in SCC WYSE physics, math and English, first in logarithms at SEMO Math Field Day, first in Spanish at the 2019 Illinois State Beta Convention and was Illinois State Board of Education Student Advisory Council Chair. He was a member and officer of Spanish Club, Mu Alpha Theta and student council and a member pf WYSE Team, math team, National Honor Society, FCCLA, FBLA , Beta Club, art club, GSA, Scholastic Bowl and wrestling .

The son of Paige Helm Maginel of Dongola and Ronald Massey of Anna, he plans to study mathematics and linguistics at Brown University.

Tehand'on, 17, is an Illinois State Scholar, Outstanding Senior, Anna Rotary Club Student of the Quarter and Junior Class Top Ten, and received certificates of achievement her freshman and sophomore years. She is a member of National Honor Society serving as treasurer two years, Beta Club, WYSE team, musical cast member and musical stage crew member.

The daughter of José and Jerri Tehandón of Jonesboro,

She plans to major in nursing at Southeast Missouri State University.
