Chester High School has honored Drake Bollman, Jakob Cushman, Emma Draves, Elizabeth Soellner, Lauren Welge and Jacob Wingerter for academic and athletic excellence and community service.
Bollman, 18, was also honored for his character. He was recognized as Elk Student of the Month and Future Leader of Randolph County, was on the honor roll four years and was named All-Conference in football. He is a member of student council, National Honor Society and the football and basketball teams.
The son of Tim and Shelley Bollman of Chester, he plans to major in criminal justice at John A. Logan College.
Cushman, 18, was also honored for his character. He has had various achievements in sports and is a member of National Honor Society.
The son of Jackie and Jess Cushman of Chester, he plans to study electrical engineering at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
Draves, 17, is also honored for character.
The daughter of Mike Draves and Roxanna Draves of Chester, she plans to attend SIUC.
Soellner, 17, is also honored for fine arts. She is an Illinois State Scholar, class vice president, National Honor Society vice president, Spanish Club president and Scholar Bowl captian, and placed third in English and fourth in biology at WYSE Sectionals. She is a member of student council, theatre, Sound Affect Swing Choir, SADD, cross country and WYSE.
The daughter of Larry and Melissa Soellner of Chester, she plans to study biological sciences at University of Georgia.
Welge, 18, is also honored for her character. She attended 2018 Illinois Girls’ State, was on the honor roll and high honor roll, received and Academic C for outstanding grades and was honored at 2018 Leadership Breakfast of Randolph County to represent Chester High School, Elks Student of the Month and is part of the prom court. She attended Ole Miss 2018 APEX Leadership Program and Chester Memorial Hospital 2016 Pathfinders Program, was all-conference in volleyball and is a member of the volleyball team, dance and drill teams, Spanish Club, student council, WYSE team where she advanced to sectionals, is student body treasurer, and assisted with dance camp and summer volleyball camp.
The daughter of Rob and Paige Welge of Chester, she plans to major in psychology at Ole Miss.
Wingerter, 18, is also honored for fine arts. He is an Illinois State Scholar and Boys' State McCraith Model Citizen, and received the Allmeyer Award. He is a member of National Honor Society, concert band, concert choir, swing choir, jazz band, SADD, WYSE, Scholar Bowl and theatre.
The son of Bob and Jody Wingerter of Ellis Grove, he plans to study marketing at the University of Illinois.
Graduation will be at 3 p.m. May 19.
