CARBONDALE - A minute-and-a-half video clip taken from the Illinois House floor in Springfield is getting state Rep. Mike Bost of Murphysboro national attention this morning.
Bost, R-Murphysboro, angry over a Democrat-led, last-minute plan to overhaul state pensions, launched into a screaming tirade, irate over expectations that lawmakers accept the bill without time to read it over thoroughly.
"These damn bills that come out of here all the damn time, come out out here at the last second," Bost raged, tossing papers in all directions as he spoke.
Bost leveled his anger toward House Speaker Mike Madigan, a Democrat, saying legislators are constantly giving him sole power what does and doesn't happen in Springfield.
"Every year we give power to one person," Bost screamed. "It was not made that way in the (state) constitution."
The pension proposal on the table from Democrats would gradually shift public employee pension costs to local school districts and governments.
