Two teenagers died and two others were injured in a head-on collision on Sunday in Alexander County.

The Illinois State Police reported that a 16-year-old driver traveling westbound on Grapevine Trail lost control of her vehicle, crossed into the eastbound lane, and struck another vehicle. 

The 16-year-old driver, of Tamms, and her 15-year-old passenger, of Olive Branch, were pronounced dead on scene by the Alexander County Coroner. Their names have not been released. 

The driver of the other vehicle, Teresa Strong, and her passenger, Sidney Strong, were transported to an out-of-state hospital for treatment of injuries. No additional information was provided about their conditions.
