UNION COUNTY — Illinois 146 in Union County will be closed directly under the bridges at Interstate 57 beginning at 7 a.m. Wednesday, July 18. The on and off ramps to I-57 will remain open. The road will reopen at 7 a.m. Friday, July 20 weather permitting.
This work is necessary to erect the beams on the northbound structure.
A marked detour route will be in place. Illinois 146 east bound traffic will be directed onto I-57 and use exit 36 (Lick Creek) to change directions on the interstate and then exit back onto Illinois 146.
Due to the closure, motorists must allow additional time for travel and seek and alternate route.
Message boards and signs will be in place to alert motorists of the closure and the marked detour route.
