A man standing at his mailbox in Massac County was hit by a car early Monday morning. 

The man, a 39-year-old from Metropolis, was transported to an out-of-state hospital for treatment for his injuries, which Illinois State Police said in a news release were not life-threatening.

According to ISP, the crash happened about 10 minutes before 7 a.m. A 28-year-old man from Dongola was driving west on Mount Mission Road about a half mile east of Country Club Road, north of Metropolis. The man was standing at his mailbox and was struck.

The driver wasn't injured. 

The crash is still under investigation. ISP did not release the names of either men involved.
