The planning committee for the 20th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration is requesting nominations for the Spirit of Dr. King Jr. Community Service Award.
The award recognizes an individual or group that exemplifies the character and legacy of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Nominees should have enacted or modeled a spirit of community service in the manner of King, and should be from Southern Illinois. Nominations must be received electronically or postmarked by Dec. 15.
The award will be presented at the community celebration at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019, the Carbondale Civic Center.
