JOHNSTON CITY — Agnes Holder, 98 of Johnston City, passed away at 8:23 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2019, at Shawnee Christian Village in Herrin with her family by her side.
Agnes was born Sept. 1, 1920, in Johnston City, to John and Julia (Repic) Kusturin. She married Ralph H. Holder on Dec. 6, 1938, in Johnston City. Together they shared 69 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 2007.
Agnes was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Johnston City. She enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, shopping and doing word search puzzles. She loved to spend time with her family.
Survivors include her two children, Harold “Butch” (Elaine) Holder of Herrin and Saundra (Larry) Russell of Johnston City; four grandchildren, Pam (Dr. William) Hays of Herrin, Deidra (John) Nugent of Herrin, Sherry (Mark) DeAngelo of Herrin and Sean Russell; eight great-grandchildren, Billy (Lyndsay) Hays, Karen Elliott, Taylor and Sydney Nugent, Sierra and Brooke DeAngelo, Dustin and Dylan Russell; two great-great grandchildren, Madison Elliott and Lexi Hays. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Bradley Dean Holder; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City, with the Rev. Keith Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City is entrusted with the arrangements.
