MURPHYSBORO — Donna Jo Cavness, 61, of rural Murphysboro, formerly of Wolf Lake, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019, at her home.
She was born Jan. 19, 1958, in Cape Girardeau, the daughter of Walter “Walt” and Margaret (Gregory) Cavness.
Donna is survived by her daughter, Cassandra (Jeff) Hanson of Cobden; son, Derek (Cheryl) Hanson of Grand Tower; one brother; one sister-in-law; one brother-in-law; many nieces and nephews; her extended Sauer family; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Walt Cavness; mother, Margaret Bray; two brothers, Roger and Kenny; three sisters, Pat, Linda and Jane.
Donna honorably served her country in the Army National Guard and later in the reserves.

She owned and operated the Duck Inn in Wolf Lake since 2003.
She was a fun loving person and always enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved fishing, riding horses and being outdoors.
Services will be at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, in Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Jack Thorton officiating. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. and until the service hour at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at the funeral home in Anna.
Memorials may be made to the Methodist Church in Wolf Lake or Sandra's Comfort Care.
