WEST FRANKFORT — Gloria Jean Bishop, 83, died at 11:30 p.m. Oct. 11, 2018, in her granddaughter's home.
She was born Gloria Prewitt on Aug. 27, 1935, to Raymond and Myrtle Prewitt.
She is survived by her granddaughter and her husband, Kellie and Robert Ward; two great-grandchildren, David and Kalliope; and nephews, nieces, and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Beverly Sanders; husband, James Bishop; son, Bradford Bishop; and brother, William Prewitt.
Mrs. Bishop graduated from SIUC and was a teacher for 35 years, most of them spent at the old Cambria Grade School.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Herrin and loved her church family. She cared for so many and no one will forget her wit and sense of humor. Gloria was a loving wife, mother, me-me, sister, aunt, and ga-ga. She will be dearly missed by all.
It was her wish to be cremated and placed with her husband and son, with no services being conducted.
Memorials can be made to the Womens Crisis Center in Herrin.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Southern Illinois for their care and compassion.
