STONEFORT — John T. "Bud" Frothingham, 86, of Stonefort, passed away at 10:55 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019, in the Carrier Mills Nursing and Rehab Center.
Bud was born Oct. 25, 1932, in Cypress, the son of the late Barney and Bessie (Johnston) Frothingham. He and his family moved to Stonefort on Oct. 31, 1933.
Bud was a Navy veteran, serving from 1951 to 1959. He retired from Consolidated Coal in 1994 after working 24 years, he loved to watch the St.Louis Cardinals, and he loved visiting with "Zoey," his four-legged friend.
Bud owned and operated B & R Grocery in Stonefort for 10 years, and he attended the Stonefort General Baptist Church.
Bud is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Rose Duvall; daughters, Ginger (Patrick) Martin of Marion, Gail Frothingham of Stonefort; a sister-in-law; brother-in-laws; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Barney Frothingham Jr.
Graveside services will precede burial at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2019, in the Wise-Robinson Cemetery near Ozark. The Rev. Jeff Owens will officiate the service with military honors to follow.
There will be no visitation, those planning to attend the service are asked to gather at the cemetery prior to the service time.
In lieu of flowers, the preferred choice of remembrance would be memorials to the Wise-Robinson Cemetery in his memory. Envelopes will be available at the service.
