HERRIN — Kenneth Charles Bolen, 78, of Herrin, passed away at 4:25 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2018, at the CLC at the VA Medical Center in Marion.
Kenneth was a self-employed contractor and owned and operated KC Builders.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and attended St. Mary’s Grade School and a graduate of Herrin High School.
Kenneth was born July 4, 1939, in Herrin, to Kenneth Quincy and Helen Theresa (Berra) Bolen.
Kenneth was united in marriage with Edith F. Quillen on April 20, 1993 in Paducah.
Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Edith Bolen of Herrin; two daughters and a son-in-law, Cathy and Ron Traug of New Jersey, Beth Bolen of New Jersey; stepchildren, Tim and Jamie Collins of Farmersville, Neal Dwight and Noreen Collins of Arizona; Kathy Ann and Keith Holyfield of Alabama; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; cousins, Marilyn (Berra) Phillips of Herrin, Connie (Berra) Garrison of Pasadena, California; and a nephew, Scott Bolen of Herrin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Cory Ray Collins; and a brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Sharon Bolen.
In accordance with Kenneth’s wishes, he will be cremated. Memorial graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018, at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin, with Pastor Dan Smith officiating. Family and Friends are asked to gather at the cemetery. Military gravesite rites will be conducted by the Herrin American Legion, Baker-Ladd VFW Post, Carterville American Legion and the Illinois Army National Guard Honor Detail.
