MURPHYSBORO — Lloyd "Norman" Moore, 81, passed away at 5:20 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2019, in Shawnee Christian Village, Herrin.
Lloyd was born June 24, 1937, in Murphysboro, to Lloyd Franklin Moore and Beatrice Mae (Hobbs) Moore.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. serving during the Korean Conflict.
Norman was a machinist with Caterpillar Tractor in Joliet for 32 years.
Mr. Moore attended the First Baptist Church in Murphysboro.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge.
When he was younger, he was an avid golfer and also a bowler. He also went to tournaments. He enjoyed going on hunting trips.
Norman is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen "Steve" and Marianne Moore of Braceville; a special friend, Freida Malloy of Murphysboro; two grandchildren, Amy (John) Torres and Heather Moore; five great-great-grandchildren, Katlynn Torres, John Torres, James West, Amber West, and Justin West; one sister, Barbara Ann Gill of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald (Paulette) and Glendell Moore; one brother-in-law, William Gill; and his parents.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 15, in Pettett Funeral Home, with the Rev. Shaker Samuel officiating and burial in Mount Joy Cemetery, where military services will be conducted by the Paul Stout American Legion Post 127 Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
The family would prefer memorials may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans.
