CHESTER — Manley O. Limbaugh, 96, passed away at 1:35 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, in Chester, Illinois.
He was born to Rush Husdon Sr. and Beulah M. (nee Seabaugh) Limbaugh on March 18, 1921, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
He married Mary Heagler on Feb. 26, 1943, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Manley was a high school biology teacher.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chester, Illinois, Chester Lions Club, Methodist Men, Illinois Junior Academy of Science (past president), Illinois Education Association, a Boy Scout Leader and Christian Camp Counselor at Aldersgate Institute at Little Grassy.
Manley’s faith in God was unwavering and his servant spirit led him to be a surrogate father and inspiration to innumerable members of the community. He was a dedicated husband to Mary for nearly 75 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Limbaugh, of Chester, Illinois; four children, John (Cindy) Limbaugh, of Germantown, Tennessee, Dan (Paulette) Limbaugh of St. Louis, Missouri, Bob (Cathie) Limbaugh of St. Charles, Missouri, Patti (Bill) Nanney Chester, Illinois; one son-in-law, Tim Mathias of Glen Carbon, Illinois; one brother, Stephen N. Limbaugh Sr. of St. Louis, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Mary Bee Mathias; one sister, Marguerite Limbaugh; and two brothers, Rush Limbaugh Jr. and Daniel Francis Limbaugh.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home in Chester, Illinois, with the Rev. Joe Scheets and the Rev. Faye Edmiaston officiating.
Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Chester, Illinois.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home in Chester, Illinois.
